Defining the Dispute Regarding the Statement of Principles

November 7–8, 2026 Utah County, Utah

All members of the Covenant Christian community are invited to participate in a two-day workshop focused on better understanding the differing perspectives surrounding the Statement of Principles.

The gathering will provide an opportunity to listen, reason together, and practice charitable deliberation among brothers and sisters who may hold different views.

All perspectives are welcome.

“Study to learn how to respect your brothers and sisters and to come together by precept, reason, and persuasion, rather than sharply disputing and wrongly condemning each other, causing anger. Take care how you invoke my name. Mankind has been controlled by the adversary through anger and jealousy, which has led to bloodshed and the misery of many souls. Even strong disagreements should not provoke anger, nor to invoke my name in vain as if I had part in your every dispute. Pray together in humility and together meekly present your dispute to me, and if you are contrite before me, I will tell you my part.”

Workshop purpose

The primary purpose of this workshop is to define the dispute regarding the Statement of Principles.

Before we can meekly present the dispute to the Lord for His part, we must first identify and understand precisely where and why we disagree. Charitable deliberation and seeking unity are essential parts of that work.

Define the dispute

Identify its exact nature regarding the Statement of Principles, and meekly learn from one another.

Practice together

Prepare in small groups, then use structured and charitable deliberation during the workshop.

Seek unity

Learn to come to agreement through a process grounded in humility, reason, and persuasion.

  • A place to explore how to resolve disagreement as believers
  • A place to practice righteous judgment together
  • A place to learn how to govern well together

This workshop is not

  • A place to accuse others or undo past progress
  • A place to debate in order to win
  • A place for emotional processing alone
